Breakfast With Barry, April 1, 2010

"Daddy, can I talk to you?"

"Of course, Darling. Why do you ask?"

"You don't like to talk when Mr. Teleprompter is not around."

"Malia, that's nonsense. Have you been listening to talk radio again?"

"Daddy, I'm Sasha, not Malia."

"Oh. Right. You little ones all look alike to me. Heh, heh. What did you want to talk about?"

"What's a f---ingracist?"

"YOUNG LADY, WHERE DID YOU LEARN SUCH LANGUAGE?"

"Pastor Wright. He was telling me about the time a f---ingracist cop gave him a ticket when he was only doing 70 in a school zone."

"Ah, well, you shouldn't use words like that."

"But Pastor says it all the time. That's how I learned to count to 100. Remember the first time I did it? Mommy yelled at me for interrupting Easter service."

"I don't think I was there that day."

"Oh, yes you were. I remember how you kept stepping on my feet when you jumped up whenever Pastor said 'damnwhitey.'"

"Ah, I'd been sitting too long and my leg went to sleep. But about YOUR language, young lady...."

"Is f---ingracist a dirty word, Daddy?"

"In fact, it's two words. We'll talk about f---ing when you get older."

"Ok, but Uncle Bill already told me that he'd tell me all about it."

"He said WHAT?"

"That he'd tell me all about f---ing in a couple years. I think that's when Uncle Rahm hit him."

"Uncle Rahm hit Uncle Bill?"

"Just once. But you should have seen what Aunt Hillary did to him."

"Where was Mommy?"

"Holding Uncle Bill for Aunt Hillary."

"I see."

"That's good. Uncle Bill didn't for a couple of days."

"Too much information, Darling. What was your question?"

"Is racist a dirty word?"

"No, not a dirty word. Maybe ugly. It's not a good thing to be. A racist is someone who dislikes people because of the color of their skin."

"Like the Newt Monster you used to tell me about?"

"Exactly!"

"Oh! I've got it! Racists are white people!"

"I'm proud of you, Darling!"

"So am I!!! We're racists!!!"

"WHAT'S THAT?"

"But Daddy, wasn't Grandma Dunham white?"

Regarding the Failed Policies of The Past

Those of us of a certain age will notice a certain resemblance between the O administration and that of the Soviet Union, althought the Soviets were perhaps a bit more discreet about their hypocrisy. 

The Soviet ruling class was known as the "nomenklatura," which Wikipedia describes as follows:

The Russian term nomenklatura (Russian: номенклату́ра, Russian pronunciation: [nəmʲɪnklɐˈturə]) derived from the Latin nomenclatura meaning a list of names.


The term was popularized by the Soviet dissident Michael Voslenski, who in 1970 authored a book titled Nomenklatura: The Soviet Ruling Class (Russian: Номенклатура. Господствующий класс Советского Союза).

Description

The nomenklatura referred to the Communist party's authority to make appointments to key positions throughout the governmental system, as well as throughout the party's own hierarchy. Specifically, the nomenklatura consisted of two separate lists: one was for key positions, appointments to which were made by authorities within the party; the other was for persons who were potential candidates for appointment to those positions. The Politburo, as part of its nomenklatura authority, maintained a list of ministerial and ambassadorial positions that it had the power to fill, as well as a separate list of potential candidates to occupy those positions.

Coextensive with the nomenklatura were patron-client relations. Officials who had the authority to appoint individuals to certain positions cultivated loyalties among those whom they appointed. The patron (the official making the appointment) promoted the interests of clients in return for their support. Powerful patrons, such as the members of the Politburo, had many clients. Moreover, an official could be both a client (in relation to a higher-level patron) and a patron (to other, lower-level officials).

Because a client was beholden to his patron for his position, the client was eager to please his patron by carrying out his policies. The Soviet power structure essentially consisted of groups of vassals (clients) who had an overlord (the patron). The higher the patron, the more clients the patron had. Patrons protected their clients and tried to promote their careers. In return for the patron's efforts to promote their careers, the clients remained loyal to their patron. Thus, by promoting his clients' careers, the patron could advance his own power.

During the campaign Mr. O derided the "tired, failed ideas of the past," if memory serves. He then proceeded to visit upon us a series of awful platitudes. Now he is offering policies that enslaved half the Western world and imposed a type of poverty that is only now being overcome.

BREAKFAST WITH BARRY - Episode Three

(We join our Fearless Leader as he answers the O Phone.  Owing to the limits of our Soviet ear bug, we can only hear one side of the conversation.)

"You have reached the Presence.  Voice your entreaty.  The Presence is feeling beneficent today."

"No, I will not apologize.  I do not apologize; the United States does not apologize to the likes of you."

"No, our acts were a measured response to your provocations."

"How dare you cite Bush and Reagan to me.  If they did any good for anyone it was an accident."

"No, your national policies are affront to the free world."

"No, you are creating instability in the region."

"Who are you to talk about oppression and discrimination?"

"That Holocaust nonsense is starting to wear thin."

"Look, if you push us, we'll push back.  Can you handle that?"

"What do I mean?  If you launch an air strike, we will regard it as an attack on the US."

"Let me be perfectly clear.  How many nuclear subs do you have parked off the coast of the US?"

"OK.  Glad you see reason."

"Right.  Give my best to the family.  Salaam, Bibi."

A Recommendation

We are beginning to see reports that Leftist members of Congress are now in fear of violence.

Clearly we need a Political Violence Czar.

A Small Proposal

Congress evidently believe it now rules over a submissive Euro state.
Could we disabuse them with a National Strike on April 15? 
Could we put 100,000 people around the Capitol, and politely block all the entrances?
